Big Jim set the tone for Palmetto Dunes’ growth and development since purchasing the resort in 1979, but one of his biggest claims to fame has been his culinary skills. From his own special barbecue sauce to his renowned Tennessee cole slaw, Big Jim’s recipes were always in demand.
Nothing has changed in the restaurant named in Big Jim’s honor.
An online reviewer had nothing but praise for the restaurant. “The staff was so pleasant,” the review said. “We had the 1/2 rack of ribs with veggies. The corn on the cob was awesome and buttery sweet. We love this place.”
Another online reviewer said Big Jim’s was well worth a visit.
“This is a great little restaurant! It’s in back of the clubhouse at the Robert Trent Jones golf course facing the tee box,” the review said. “I had the pulled pork barbecue sandwich and sweet potato fries. It was some of the best barbecue I have ever had! Great service!”
